if she is going to be 9 months, do we need one. SPace is tight but I want to make room if it is important. I have an old school wooden rocker but I don't know how comfortable that will be.
Changing table-- top of bureau fine, or just the floor a twin bed, etc. When they are 9 months do you use the changing table a lot. I was just going to use the top of an Ikea dresser.
Diaper Champ---space is tight and we have a one story ranch. I was going to get a special trash can in garage for pooper diapers that i tie up in plastic bags and take straight out to garage. will this process work? do i still need a genie or champ for pee diapers?
Ok Madeline is now 8 months and here's my thoughts.
She is a little big on the changing table now. it's nice to not have to bend over but I'm also scared because it's not too wide and I worry she'll roll off or something. I have no problem chagning her on the floor, even in the living room, but I've become a pro at it now and there is no worry about a sqwirmy baby spreading a mess. If you get a big changing mat, I think at her age you can change her anywhere. Pateem Pads are really cool and big, and fold up to fit in a diaper bag too, these are good for this. As far a diaper genie or champs; the seperate garbage can in the garage is fine, I think. Really if you concious of taking the diaper straight out. Diaper Genies and champs are basically just another thing you have to remember to empty and change.
But I did use my genie a lot when Madie was tiny, and I alway changed her on the plush changing table. So I think these things just lose their baby novelty when your baby is bigger and more active.
Top of the dresser is fine for a changing table, I was a nanny for a little boy when he was 1 1/2-2 1/2 yr old and I changed him on a pad on top of a counter/dresser in his room.
Caeden's dresser is also his changing table. It has a little "barrier" type thing that goes around 3 sides with just the font open. I know that doesnt' make sense but the time change has him all messed up. Which also means that I'm all messed up! His changing pad has a built in seat belt that I use since he has turned into a squirmy-wormy.
