how much formula does a 6 to 8 month old drink a day? our little girl will be a bit smaller than US babies and might stay on formula longer than 12 months---it just depends on what the Ped says.
Is Enfamil Lipil a good one unless she is allergic to soy? How can you tell when they are allergic---breakouts, fussy, etc. I know you can't switch formula unless you do it slowly and phase it out but I have some Enfamil Gentlease Lipil....is this different that Enfamil Lipil? and you can't switch or is that just between brands that you shouldn't switch. Also, the Enfamil Lip says babies 0-12 and then I have some that says for older babies 9-24 months. Does it really matter if she is 8 or 9 months.
Should I just find a good pediatrition and ask them all these formula questions.
I have lots of enfamil coupons that are good a Kmart---$5 off or buy one get one free. Email me if you need one or some. Also, for anyone in the Chicago area, in the Jan or Feb time frame, I could share a lot of formula, baby food and juice that I get at work.
DIAPERS
how many diapers a day? 8 to 10 I was thinking.
CLOTHES
how many onesies do they go thru a day at this age -- 8 or 9 months? i was thinking 2 or 3. Is a onesie like an undershirt and they wear one under everything? Can they wear things a little big like sweaters or jackets? I would think PJs should fit close and be the right size though.
How many clothes do they need at this age? I went really practical(Gap, Gymboree, Old Navy, Marshalls for Polo, Kmart)-- onesie, leggings, snap pants, etc. She will be in day care that is on site at Sears. I know I will have to send her with a couple of outfits a day to school. I didn't buy any boutique-y type clothes although I am dying for a Kelly Kids Ladybug outfit to bring her home from the airport in.
What were/are your kids most comfortable in?
Thanks for the help---if it is just easier to talk on the phone, I would love a mommy to talk to. ( i don't have a mom and need some help!) you can email me jcashma@searshc.com and we can chat.
Also, if anyone has a BOB jogging stroller or knows someone in the Chicago area that wants to sell one, let me know-
Please ignore my ignorance--I have read a lot about attachment, adoption, china and parenting books but it is hard to find the answer to certain questions and i don't have a sister or cousin who is a mom.
just read your exciting post over at stylethread. congratulations!
as far as formula goes — definately find a pediatrician you like and get a recommendation on which formula. that way if an allergy comes up you can phone the nurses station at the office and ask questions. i was constantly on the phone with the nurses at our pediatrician's office.
8-10 diapers a day sounds about right. maybe a few less since she's a bit older.
2-3 onesies a day sounds about right as well, but don't sweat it too much. if you have enough clothing to get through a few days at a time, you'll be good. i couldn't belive how often i did a load of baby clothes (like once a day) clean stuff never made it back into the dresser drawers at times, just right out of the laundry and back on the baby! most of the clothes i had were practical (cute and stylish, but practical) because they will get dirty and stained. of course you have to have a few special/boutique outfits but save them for weekend outings and photoshoots!
i'll send you an e.mail and you can feel free to ask me anything!
Is there anyway you could get access to your daugher's current eating habits? How many times a day and what she is currently eating? That could put you in the ball park for what you need to do. I'd say start w/ a 6 oz. bottle and let her have her fill, but my boy was an eating machine. All kids are different :)
If she has no allergies you can start her on generic formula, if cost is an issue. If she does have allergies I recommend Nutramigen. It's insanely $$ but if you have a colicky, lactose-intolerant little one it can work wonders.
I would recommend as many bibs as possible. Caeden was a spitter forever! He slowed down at around 10 months. I don't mean, eh spit-up. It was HOLY COW is there anything left in your stomach spit-up?
Feel free to PM me anytime you would like. Caeden just turned a year, I'm no baby-pro, just a mom that muddled through it. Well, I guess I'm still muddling.
I would talk to your pediatrition about formula. Talia took about 4 -5 8oz bottles a day at that age.
For Diapers I want to recommend pampers cruisers during the day and Huggies overnights (one size up than normal) at night - it will save you from getting up a lot of nights to change wet clothes! Expect about 5-6 diapers a day I would say.
On a good day Talia wears one outfit - on a bad day - two - at 8 or 9 months they aren't really spitting up anymore so its a little neater.
