Rather timely that I'm asking this question.. since it is 6am on a Saturday and I'm up posting on Mamastyle(!!) instead of catching some much need Zzzz's
I'm a little bitter that my hubby is currently enjoying a nice long uniterrupted slumber
Anywho..my point, does anyone have any tips on how to get good nights rest while preggo or just in general? Did you do anything that helped? Drink any special potions? Use a gazzilion pillows? (I've tried this). Work out right before going to bed? Anything?
I wish there were some special potions! Maybe some of those Celestial Seasonings pregnancy teas or something *might* help, but I doubt it. I think that late in pregnancy, your body starts to prepare for the baby in more ways than one. If you're waking up early and/or often during the night, it's your body getting you ready for what's to come. It's not very kind, but it's better than being shocked once the little precious arrives.

I second this, I too think that the restlessness does a pretty good job of preparing you to get used to the fatigue! I actually don't think I have had a full and restorative sleep since I had my first son, who's 2!
I liked to drink a hot herbal tea at night. I liked Celestial Seasonings Tension Tamer and Sleepytime Extra. Maybe it was psychological, but these teas worked.
Some breathing I learned in yoga class also helped a lot. Breathe slow and deep through your nostrils, you can also try holding closed the right nostril and only breath through the left fo 10 breaths. Supposedly that side stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, to calm you down. Again, it might have all been in my head, but in general deep breathing does wonders to settle the senses. I am shallow breather, so slowing down really helped me relax.
Nothing helped me stay asleep though, night waking, discomfort and weird dreams continued to disrupt my sleep throughout pregnancy.

Also talk to your doctor. I know mine was very understanding, and when I was going on 72 hours with no sleep only weeks from delivery, he gave me a perscription. Some things are safe to take, and he felt I would need some rest to get through labor and delivery.

I may eventually have to take this route..
I'm no longer functional at work and that's not good
Thanks for the words of encouragement and tips everyone!
I've been sleeping with a body pillow...that seems to ease discomfort. My problem is that apparently I've started snoring and it's been keeping DH up. I can't take my normal allergy pills but I've been taking the one the dr said was ok to take. And at night I've been using those breathe right strips (which really help) but is there really anything else to help stop snoring?
