I'm looking at some pants to get to wear around 3 months and I'm pretty sure I just need my pre-preggo size in those but my question is how long do those usually fit? Like did you have to size up later on in your pregnancy? Or will these pants maybe fit thru most of my pregnancy? I know it varies with each person, but what was/is your experience?
with the items I bought from Gap and Old Navy, I bought my pre-preggo size and have not had to size up yet. I bought them around 18 weeks or so and I'm currently 30 weeks
The pants I bought at a pea in pod and mimi maternity are a slightly different story. They still fit but I'm definitely starting to run out of room in the thigh area..
It's obvious you're a first time mommy!!!! Only first-timers WANT to wear maternity pants at 3 months! That said, I understand your excitement of everyone knowing; but since you're thin and it's your first, you probably won't even need maternity pants until much later. You can probably get away with just buying elastic waist pants (or ones like Rachel Pally and Juicy) in a larger size. With my first, up until month 8 I bought and wore a regular size 10 or 12 clothes because maternity stuff was still too big. (I was regularly a size 4)

Well, it's really all about comfort! And over the summer I put on a few pounds so some of my normal pants are already a little snug, and I do not want muffin top or constant pressure against my bladder (I'm already peeing enough!). I did buy some cords with a knit waist from VS and the jeans I just got should be fine for the first couple of months so I'm set for casual, but all of my dress pants are snug (since I haven't worked in 10 months) and I have some events coming up where I'll need some pants, especially since it's getting cooler and I'll wear skirts less. But then I really didn't want to spend $$ on maternity pants that won't work very long. Sounds like I'll be fine with Gap stuff.
I was the same way. There's no point in being uncomfortable when they make Maternity stuff that is comfy and still cute/stylish. I actually gained a little weight going off my birth control when trying to get pregnant. So my Maternity clothes for fall are a size larger then my prepregnancy clothes. But they fit the same now as they have for the last few months. HTH!
Just had to add, I loved this brand called Noppies, I think they are UK based. I bought two pairs of their trousers for the office. The fabric was stretchy but snug and supportive, they lasted all the way up to the end of pregnancy. I could fold the waist down in the early months, then up for more comfort when I was close to my due date.
