Hope this isn't too invasive and I know it's all subjective to body type and how you carry the baby and what you weighed pre-pregnancy but, how much weight did you all really gain during pregnancy?
I weighed 232 at at my first appointment. I lost 11 pounds during my first trimester. I have gained about 8 pounds back. That's about it. I am still 2-3 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight.
But since I was so heavy to begin with, it's better that I haven't gained any real weight.
But, with still 9 weeks left, I still have the ability to gain a few more pounds.
With the first, I only gained 14 pounds (oh, those were the good ol' days). I was back to pre-preg size in 7 days!!!!!
I think I gained 30 w/ the second and maybe 35 with the third. Can't remember for certain. It took me a while to get it off, but I never got back to my pre-second baby weight because I had the last two so close together.
Okay I can't believe I'm going to type this but 55 pound with each. Yep 55! I was so super careful with the second pregnancy. I did not want to gain that much. My OB said it's just what my body does. It took forever to lose it after my first, but I did. I'm still up 10 pounds since Madie.
I gained 38 with chris. I lost most of it but the last five pounds stayed with with me for 4 years. I did loose it after a strict low carb diet but of course its back now
Thanks ladies! This is making me feel better cause at 6 months I've gained about 25-28lbs. I'm going to try really hard to watch it for the rest of the time (this baby just loves chocolate though!). At least I'm still wearing size XS/S (some mediums at Motherhood) and 4's in maternity clothes.
FP - just don't deprive yourself too much! Your body's going to do what it's going to do at some point, if you eat lettuce or chocolate cake. Besides, alot of petite people gain significantly more than what's considered 'average' (25-35 lbs) because your body needs to add extra fat stores along with the regular pregnancy weight. And, such a small portion of the weight gain is controllable! Here's an interesting breakdown:
Your fat and nutrient store needs are likely to be even higher than this 'average' because you didn't start out with as much before the pregnancy. Weight gain during pregnancy is hardly even, to say the least. Just because you gain quickly now, doesn't mean you'll continue to at the same rate the entire time. Second tri is a heavy weight gain time for lots of people, simply because the baby is growing very quickly now too, and your body is doing everything it can to keep up. What's important is that you're getting a balanced diet and all the vitamins and minerals you need.
So, unless you're gorging yourself at McDonalds for every meal, this is mostly out of your control! If ever there was a time in life to let your body tell you what it needs you to eat, this is it!

Oh, never fear, I am definitely not depriving myself I'm just limiting my sweets to no more than one a day and trying to eat a salad before my meal so I don't fill up on things like potatoes and rolls, hehe! And thanks for posting that info. I also know that when it gets warmer out I'll be able (and want to) do more stuff outside like take walks and such and that will help.
This is my first and I've gained 7lbs so far and I am just over 20 weeks (depending on how you count your weeks). I'm sure I'll be gaining quite a bit in the next few weeks. I've been doing my very best to eat healthly. I did not gain very much in the 1st Trimester b/c I was sick a lot. I actually did not start feeling better until around week 16. I have not had any cravings which I think is quite odd. I do hope if my cravings do kick in, it is not for sweets. Yeh, right!

Yeah, I didn't get sick at all my first trimester but all I wanted was bland carbs.
i gained around 37 lbs. i lost about 25 of it within the first month and have been fighting four stubborn lbs for about six months now! i am waiting to officially diet until i am done breastfeeding, but i don't think it will be a problem losing the last of the weight after that.
