I am starting to look for deals on capris/light weight pants for spring and have found a couple of the real waist styles for great prices but they say best for 0-6 months. My question is, do they work in the last trimester?
I had terrible luck w/ these styles as I grew. I was always having to yank them up, and they made my belly itch like crazy. Once you get to look like a basketball-eater, you'll love pulling those granny panels all the way up to your boobs.
I actually have found that in the final trimester the panel is the way to go. I've used mostly the demi panel and the roll panel from the Gap. With the roll panel you're able to wear it low or high. I actaully have a few pair of the full panel and they're not bad at all. They not really high, they go right over my belly button and really make things feel more secure and look better in my opinion.
Thanks! Yeah, I've discovered that the one pair I have (the ones pictured) I am constantly pulling up. I don't mind the panels but my fav is definitely the demi panel.
I was very disappointed by these styles from Old Navy and Gap. I was constantly having to tug them up even before my belly got big, it was infuriating.
Otherwise, since this is your first pregnancy and I know you are little, you might be able to make it through your entire pregnancy with demi bands, but probably not the "real waist" styles. Your 3rd trimester belly will feel hard and will be pushing the waistband downwards so you'll need some good elastic.
The demi bands will need to be strong and thick elastic to be worn in the late months too, or they just sort of crumple over underneath your belly and become really uncomfortable and constraining. My only demi band pants that held up pretty comfortably were a pair of maternity Sevens.
A brand to you might keep an eye out for is Noppies. It's sold in individual maternity boutiques, I think it's imported from the UK. They had these pants that were so comfy with a panel that could be folded down in the early months and pulled back up with a snug and seamless fit. About $80 or $90.
