I'm paranoid I keep both on hand. I'm not sure how much I trust the ear one on a sqwirmy 9 month old, but it's also nice to have the reading in seconds. We use a regular one under her arm if we don't believe the reading we get on the ear one.

If you ask your pediatrition they will probably tell you to get a Rectal Therm. - they are the most accurate.

i inteviewed a pediatrition tonight who specializes in adoptive babies and this is just what she said.
