I was wondering though- does anyone have any fun stories about how they told their DH/parents/ anyone else? I loved what Rar did... anyone else do something more fun than just flat out telling them?
I have a funny story from telling hubby this time...
I took the pg test at 3:30 in the afternoon so I decided to wait until he got home at 5:30 (which was very hard!). So when I heard the garage door I waited in the kitchen with the test on the counter. When he rounded the corner, he looked at the test and then looked at me all confused like and I said "We're having a baby!" and what did he do... he gave me a high five!!! I started cracking up laughing, I tell him the greatest news of our lives and he gives me a high five! He was completely taken off guard cause he didn't even know I was testing. So now our new thing is to high five each other for everything
Oh I love your story FP. Rar had a good way too. I don't remember the entire story but I bet if she doesn't see this you can pm her and ask. Def. post on how you decide to do it.
Yeah, I'm really glad I did it the way I did. Just a recap for ya......
I found out on a Monday (took 7 tests between Mon-Thurs), had it comfirmed by a Dr. on Thursday evening and then surprised my DH on Friday while at our favorite little resturant. I didn't tell ANYONE the entire week up until I told him. It was hard but in reality I was wanting things to be so perfect and memorable that it didn't bother me too much.
Friday evening we went to eat just like any other night. He dropped me off at the door and went to park. I had already spoken with the Hostess and worked things out. I handed her a yellow baby bottle. DH and I sat down and ordered our drinks and when they brought our drinks they served his in the baby bottle. He looked at the bottle, looked at the waitress, and then looked at me and said "We're having a baby??!!" I said, yep! He was so excited, we hugged and then spent the rest of the evening just talking about the whole deal! Here's a blurry shot of the bottle once he figured it all out.
We suprised our parents the following day while celebrating Fathers Day. We found onsies at the Gap that said "I love Grandpa" on them and had our dads open them with their gifts. We picked up a couple "I love Grandma" ones also, just so there wouldn't be any hard feelings!
We asked them not to tell anyone and the following week we mailed out announcements to all of our friends and family. They were really cute and we got tons of calls/cards from everyone.
well, how we told hubbie's family is kind of funny but was not at all planned. when i was pregnant with mercie, we were 2 weeks away from moving into a new apartment and were staying with hubbie's moms during the transition, and didn't want to tell anyone until we were all moved in. so anyhoo, the day after we found out, hubby was itching to tell someone and his sister happened to call him so he asked if he could tell her so i said yes, but she wasn't supposed to tell anyone. she was so excited and was on her way over and was just calling to say she was almost there. so after he got off the phone with her, i went to the restroom, and when i came out i walked past the kitchen and hubbie's mom and brother and gramma were all standing there crying and hugging hubby. he couldn't keep it in anymore. so when his sister got there, she came running into the house screaming "mom, stan got tish pregnant!!!!!" i got nailed all the way around on that one.
oh god, these stories are all so great! I hope more people share.
I had a bit of a slip on Saturday- I got off work early because DH had come out to visit and we were driving around looking for something to do. We passed a vineyard with wine tours and I was like "ooh, that would be fun if I wasn't pregnant." (freudian slip? I STILL don't know what the heck is going on with me ). When the time comes, I might try to do something like that with my parents... just kind of nonchalently (sp?) mention it and see if they catch it.
do you have any symptoms? do you chart or anything? just curious. i live for this stuff. i have been trying for so long and so obsessed with getting knocked up, i love hearing about symptoms and feelings and then seeing the end result. gives me some kind of hope and keeps my occupied.

its hard to tell. I have some symptoms, but nothing that can't be explained by other things. I've had some very mild cramping, my boobs are huge and sensitive and hurt like hell, I have no appetite but am hungry all the time, thirsty a lot and pee constantly. So typical "symptoms" but peeing probably comes from drinking to deal with the thirst that couls be coming from me eating too much sodium that could be making me retain water hense the big sore boobs... ya know? I also go thought phases of being convinced that I'm pregnant (just feel that way and "know") to being totally convinced that I'm not.
I do chart normally, but my themometer battery died and I hadn't replaced it so I didn't chart that month. I thought timing would have been off (a little early) but who knows.

Ummm, those symptoms sound pretty promising to me!

ditto!!
Actually..my test was negative the first 2 times I took it and I had all the symptoms you described.
I think I was actually about 2 or 3 weeks late before I actually got a positive..

you'd think right? As of last night though, it's looking like a no go. Oh well, there's always next month!
