I'm trying to find some cute maternity pjs for post delivery--and the only ones I like are over $100 (at japaneseweekend, etc.). I don't want to spend that much but can't find any other options. Any ideas? Thanks!
maybe my delivery was just extra gory, but not only did i not have the energy to wear anything but the ugly cotton hospital gown, but i didn't want to ruin any jammies...

I agree, I barely had the strength to get out of the bed to use the bathroom let alone change my gown. Plus, if you are planning on breastfeeding, the hospital gowns allow you easy access.
nursing pj's would be fine, but I'm with Erin on this one. There's lots of icky stuff that happens and that comes out after a baby is born (for about a week). I wouldn't want to mess up anything too cute or fancy.
Also, they give you these horrid little mesh panties to wear - hoard them like crazy! You'll want to wear them with your giant granny pads and ice packs (if you deliver vaginally). That way you won't mess up your maternity undies.

absolutely! i wish i had taken more of these when i left. also, they didn't give me enough ice packs to go. (but apparently you can buy these at a medical supply store)
I brought some tanks, drawstring pj pants, and a big fluffy robe. I didn't even use the robe, my hubby did make use of it though, as a blanket!
I do wish I had brought more colorful pjs because my white and gray stuff looks really dreary in those hospital pics. But, don't overthink it. Plenty of stuff just stayed in my bag all three days.

i am with erin and wildflower on no pj's. i went had to stay for two days and am really weird about blood on my clothing or anywhere it is not supposed to be, and i went through at least 4 gowns. my pj's would have been ruined. i would reccomend a good pair of slippers and a robe for if you decide to get up and walk a little. or if you do get pj's, i would go with nightgown. your stomache mustles will be exhausted so pulling your pants up after going to the potty will not be a fun endevor.
edited: wanted to add, i am with the other ladies on hoarding everything they give you in your care package. anything they will give you extra of. especially the cleansing soap and the numbing spray, and the mesh panties. this may be a little crazy, but i also took home 2 of the hospital gowns just because and just in case. i ended up using them for the first 2 days home. and this is just a little extra tid bit, but i found that the stayfree 4 wall protection pads, were the absolute best thing ever. the do not leak and they come in the extra long very thin, so it is not so much like wearing a diaper, but you get the front to back side to side protection that you will need.
Thanks for the info. I was trying to think of what to get to wear in the hospital. I can't wear the kind of stuff I actually sleep in due to people stopping by. My mom kept saying she wants to get me a nightgown but I was telling her a PJ pants set would be ok. She kept saying I wouldn't want to wear that but never would tell me why. It was starting to get irritating lol. Thanks for explaining One more ignorant question.....what's the purpose of mesh panties instead of regular?
Thank you Jesus for Dermoplast! If you do run ount (ahem) it is sold in regular pharmacies. Also, say you lost the little tube of lidocaine as you cannot get it OTC, they will give you another one.
