At times when my son absolutely refuses to eat a 'real meal' I still rely on baby cereal.  I'll take a cup of Yo'Baby Yoghurt and mix it with enough cereal to make it fairly solid (to the stage where you could conceivably roll it into little balls).  A couple fresh berries on top and it's good to go.  Just my foolproof way of getting something of substance into him.  Hope it helps someone else.
