So, I'm starting to keep my eyes open for an outfit to bring baby Xzavier home from the hospital in. I'm curious what would be best since it will be the first week of June and it's usually in the upper 70's here by then. I'm thinking long sleeves would be too warm, right? I do know that I want a little knit hat and matching booties to the outfit. Should I just do a onesie or should I do pants too? I mean I'll have a blanket too. And I don't mind splurging a little on it, but I'm guessing it's something they wear what once or twice before they outgrow it, so not too much $. Also, what size should it be? Newborn (which seems so little)??? Thanks!
DD was born in July, it was in the 90s-100 in Cali. I had picked out 2 potential onesies in size 0-3 months and she was swimming in them. Instead she had to wear a kimono shirt (still cute) and her diaper. Bummer, cuz my mom kept telling me "babies never fit into newborn/preemie sized clothes" and I had fallen in love w/a preemie/newborn outfit that for sure would have fit. Blah! She was 20.5 in and 6lbs 10 oz, if that helps.
Maybe you should pick out a nb and a 0-3 mths outfit just in case either doesnt fit, some babies are really long and skip the whole nb size.

Thanks BQ! I think I've decided to go with the onesie/hat outfit I found, it's a newborn size. From everyone I've talked to 0-3 mths was too big for their babies too. I mean rar had a 10lb baby and they were still too big on him. But I'll be sure to pack a back up just in case.
like bq, lilah ended up going home the same way, but going to the car we had her swaddled. (until she was in the carseat of course) the one outfit i brought for her was too big, and the other outfit had pants and i was worried about hurting her belly button. (plus not to mention she cried when i tried to wriggle the pants on her)
Same, both of boys had the cutest outfits planned and they ended up wearing the hospital shirt and the diaper ( all wrapped up of course). When they start screaming when you change them, the last thing you want is a bunch of buttons and snaps :) By the way the LOVE the name Xavier!
